The position will be located at the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC) located in Portsmouth, Virginia. The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC) provide leadership and expertise to ensure mission readiness through disease prevention and health promotion in support of the National Military Strategy. This acquisition will service the scientific analysis core requirement for ongoing scientific and technical efforts of the NMCPHC’s mission.

Some of the scientific analysis areas to be supported include health risk assessment, deployment health, health surveillance, population health and health information, and include the public health areas of preventive medicine, health promotion, health analysis, epidemiology, medical entomology, disease surveillance, forensic urine drug testing, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, and environmental health. This requirement is essential to ensure Navy and Marine Corps customers (organizations and personnel) are provided responsive public health services by providing timely and effective public health/force health protection information to improve operational readiness.

The Epidemiologist will analyze data, prepares scientific reports and presents internally and externally, under the instruction of the Senior Staff. S/he will assist in the utilization of a combination of scientific approaches to improve performance and robustness in the production process and, on an ongoing basis, to generate new knowledge. Scientist should have experience in one or more of the following disciplines: chemistry, biology, mathematics, botany and geology.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to coordinate and facilitate functions of cross‐functional teams of professional and support personnel in conducting routine and non‐routine epidemiologic evaluations.
• Demonstrate skills in written and oral communication.
• Working experience with personal computer use and familiarity with computerized database management and statistical software programs such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field is required
• Must have at least 3 years of experience working in Public Health
• Must have at least 3 years of SAS experience
• SAS Level 1 Certification is preferred, but not required
• Military Health System (MHS) experience is preferred
• Must be comfortable conducting analysis and presenting their findings to leadership in various forums

BELOW IS THE GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA BUT NOT REQUIRED FOR ALL PERSONNEL: Must have experience in working and/or managing research projects; including scientific and technical experience in Public Health with specific expertise in the study, analysis, evaluation, assessment or interpretation of information relevant to this task. Relevant areas to this task include Clinical Epidemiology, Epidemiology, Medical and Disease Surveillance, Preventive Medicine, Deployment Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Laboratory Testing Services, and Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

CLEARANCE INFORMATION: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (up to and including a Secret clearance).

Position Summary:

Post-Doctoral Fellow position in Severin Gudima Lab in Dept. of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology. The research focuses on the mechanisms of hepadnavirus infection/hepatitis delta virus infection, and their relation to liver carcinogenesis. These studies at least in part aim towards understanding the determinants of maintenance of chronic infection, and their importance to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Work involves use of cellular and animal models for infections/HCC development. This is a 1-year limited term position which may be extended based on performance and availability of continued funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform experiments in HBV/HDV field of research, which will involve molecular biology and virology techniques under the guidance of Dr. Gudima.  
  • Write research papers reflecting the data generated by experiments under guidance of Dr. Gudima.  
  • Present generated data at research conferences.  

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in molecular virology and/or molecular biology with research productivity documented by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology and virology techniques is essential.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the HBV/HDV area of research is highly desirable.

The International Doctorate in Quaternary and Prehistory (IDQP)'s objective is to train young researchers at a high scientific level, opened, with a naturalistic approach to multi-and inter-disciplinary to the major scientific debates that animate the international scientific community in terms of human evolution.

IDQP partnership constituted by the Università di Ferrara (UNIFE) (Coordinator), the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle  in Paris (MNHN), the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Universitade of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), with the support of the Instituto Politecnico de Tomar (IPT),  meet the requirement for postgraduate training for intersectoral and interdisciplinary study of the factors (climatic, geological, cultural) that interacts with the evolution of our species.

The IDQP is open to students an integrated set of research topics, scientific equipment, prehistoric sites and heritage collections, accompanied by a high level scientific support. A feature of the IDQP be structuring his training at three levels: a basic uniform, specific training and cross training.Student mobility is designed at different levels:
1) mobility of 12 months in a partner institution,
2) mobility of medium duration (3 months) within private or public companies outside the partnership;

The DZNE is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes eight high-performing sites in Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten. Description: A postdoctoral position is available within the scientific team led by Prof. Pierluigi Nicotera. The research focus is on structural plasticity and changes of dendritic spines in brain disorders. For this position, the emphasis is on the regulatory role of small, non-coding microRNAs. Studies will be conducted in a variety of models, including human-derived and rodent cell cultures, and transgenic mice. Candidates with an MD/PhD in biological sciences and with previous experience in neuroscience research and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. We expect high motivation and ability to work in an international, collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Electrochemist Scientist / Engineer with preferably a minimum of five years of R&D experience in a commercial setting. The position requires the ability to solve electrochemical problems related to the commercialization of carbon nanotube (CNT) electrodes for different applications. The individual will be a key contributor to the overall development strategy and directly responsible for providing technical guidance and understanding of the electrochemical characteristics of various CNT electrode configurations. The successful candidate will possess an expert knowledge of electrochemistry and a deep skill set from which to solve technical issues and connect theoretical chemical parameters to measured characterization data.

We are seeking a self-motivated, creative scientist with an innovative approach to problem solving that will help support the overall goal of developing novel sensors. This is a technical "hands on" position and requires working collaboratively with the rest of the development team. The successful candidate must have the ingenuity and enthusiasm to successfully meet the development challenges and a "whatever it takes" attitude to get the job done.

Job Requirements:

- PhD in analytical or organic chemistry, biochemistry, chemical/biological engineering, or other related field with a strong theoretical and experimental background in electrochemistry.
- 5+ years industry experience (post degree) preferred.
- Expert in the design and development of novel sensor technology (FET, EIS, ISE, amperometric, potentiometric, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding of the chemistry and physics at solid-liquid interface on a molecular level.
- Strong working knowledge in electrochemical sensors, sub-ppm and sub ppb detection systems.
- Experience in microarray design and development.
- Strong working knowledge in electrochemical sensors, sub-ppm and sub ppb detection systems.
- Excellent understanding of analytical electrochemical techniques and their application in analytical measurements.
- Ability to work closely with others within the R&D team to develop and deliver validated analytical tests, prototypes, test systems, and instruments in line with key technical milestones.

- Experience in chemical or biosensors in the applied areas of clinical medicine, pharmaceutical or industrial analysis is desirable.

Description
This position manages resources across the system development life cycle including projects, operations and maintenance for local and global systems supporting Quality Control labs. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the company IT organization toward increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of IT services globally.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
: Accountable for planning, scheduling and controlling daily operations within IT functional area, including staff and resource scheduling and work prioritization.
: Plans, schedules, control and coordinate all project work in alignment with project scope and timing requirements. Ensures IT staff and end users are trained appropriately to support related applications. May perform matrix management and project roles in local and/or global projects across the whole company.
: Implements improvements to the quality and efficiency of IT processes, systems, and results.
: Ensures that relevant IT procedures and policies are followed consistently as defined by the global IT QMS. Follow the appropriate global regulatory guidelines such as 21CFR part 11, 210, 211 and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) as examples.

Education:
BS/BA or equivalent, preferably in an Information Technology related area.

Experience:
: Minimum 15 years related experience working within IT application, function, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
: Demonstrated mastery in the role of Sr. Systems Analyst. Minimum of 5 years IT Management experience in a regulated industry supporting Quality Control Labs.
: Experience working with global teams and has been a project lead of a least one small to medium size project.
Competencies:
: Strong working knowledge of Quality Control lab systems and laboratory business processes in a manufacturing environment
: Experience in LabWare, Chromeleon and NuGenesis are considered a plus.
: Strong skills in the areas of communication, problem analysis, delivery on results, self-development, adaptability and flexibility, and global perspective.
